THE FRESH PROGRAMME INTERNSHIP

Building the Nations next generation of strategic leaders

The Business Council of Papua New Guinea piloted the Fresh Programme Internship in 2020 with just 11 interns from the University of Papua New Guineas and has grown to absorb 60 interns in 2022 ranging from various programs such as Sciences, Law, Humanities, Business and even Medicine and Health Sciences.

The internship program offers a range of trainings ranging from a variety of capacity building workshops, policy drafting activities, and professionalism in the workplace. The program also immerses interns in all its activities and engagements to fully expose interns to the private sector and the market with a vision of cultivating and imparting skills and knowledge into undergrads so as to better equip them to become value adding employees immediately upon entering the workforce.  In addition to this, interns are given that opportunity to have a seat at the table and be involved in high-level decision making processes; this allows them to gain insight which sharpens their strategic thinking capabilities to become the next generation of leaders in Papua New Guinea.
